With the tragedy of the Gulf oil spill continuing to unfold it is hard not to think about the future of our beautiful coasts.  Check out this two minute video featuring Robert Bateman Not a Pretty Picture in which he talks about the potential tragedy of tanker spills and the fragility of the marine ecosystem of the Pacific coast.

Also, check out Avatarsands -  very short, rather humorous films that use the hit movie Avatar to try to inform North Americans about the dangers of dirty oil from the tar sands.

If you are wondering about the connection between tanker spills on B.C.’s coast and the tar sands you don’t have to look any further than the Northern Gateway pipeline being proposed by Enbridge, which would open up the coast to tankers shipping tar sands crude to markets in Asia.
